Join us for an alumni talk event with Dr. Warren Dukes!
Warren Dukes is United Way of Central Indiana’s first Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. In this role, Dukes leads UWCI’s internal and external efforts to develop, promote, and implement diversity, equity and inclusion-related strategies, partnerships, and programs.
In his previous role with Purdue University, he served as Academic Program Manager and Lecturer in the Department of Sociology instructing courses in Race and Ethnic Diversity and Juvenile Delinquency, and other responsibilities to include curriculum revision and development. Dukes was responsible for the undergraduate department’s increased student recruitment and retention growth, development, and expansion of Sociology undergraduate academic programs.
Before joining Purdue University in January 2014, Dukes served as Assistant Professor and previous Department Head for the Department of Criminal Justice at Saint Augustine’s University, where he was instrumental in building and growing the department.
Dukes has published research with the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences through the Journal of Race and Ethnicity in Criminal Justice and has co-written eight action-briefs with the Center for Justice Research at Texas Southern University addressing actionable policies for national police reform.
He holds a Doctorate degree in Leadership Studies from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University where his studies and research focused on the role of executive-leaders in shifting organizational cultures for affecting minority representation and integration into white-dominant occupational cultures.
Dr. Dukes will join us to discuss his experience obtaining a master’s degree from MSU’s School of Criminal Justice and how it influenced his career trajectory. Undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to attend!
